Position: Director of Clinical Operations

Location: Purcellville, VA (Overseeing Northern Virginia house calls, Smith Mountain Lake, and future locations)

Salary: $55-$65/hour (equivalent to $114,400 – $135,200/year based on a 40-hour workweek)

Sign-on Bonus: $3,000 (paid over 6 months)

*About the Role*

The Director of Clinical Operations is a high-level leadership position responsible for overseeing the operational, clinical, and strategic functions of the physical and occupational therapy and wellness departments across multiple locations, including Purcellville, Northern Virginia house calls, and Smith Mountain Lake (SML), with a focus on future growth.

This role ensures clinical and operational efficiency, compliance, and team development while also assisting in marketing, recruitment, and overall business growth. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with strong administrative, clinical, and leadership experience who thrives in both strategic decision-making and day-to-day operations.

*Key Responsibilities*

Operational Leadership & Compliance

• Oversee and manage all clinical disciplines (PTs, PTAs, OTs) across Purcellville, NOVA house calls, and Smith Mountain Lake.

• Ensure compliance with Medicare, commercial insurance, and Virginia state regulations for all therapy services.

• Develop and implement clinic policies and procedures to improve efficiency and patient outcomes.

• Conduct annual performance reviews for PTs, PTAs, OTs and other wellness staff.

• Work closely with billing, scheduling, and administrative teams to optimize clinic operations.

Strategic Growth & Expansion

• Lead business development and expansion efforts for new clinic locations.

• Identify new service opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams for clinical operations.

• Assist in developing referral networks with physicians, hospitals, and community partners.

• Manage profit-sharing and incentive programs for therapists based on clinic performance.

Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance

• Work closely with the Directors of Physical and Occupational Therapy to ensure quality assurance in clinical care and documentation standards.

• Stay actively involved with APTA, VPTA, and regulatory agencies to adapt to industry changes.

• Develop and implement staff training programs to ensure high clinical and operational performance.

Recruitment, Training & Team Development

• Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and retention of PTs, PTAs, OTs and other wellness staff.

• Manage the student clinical program, including the onboarding of PT students and building relationships with universities.

• Serve as a mentor and advisor to clinical staff, helping them grow in leadership and skill.

Marketing & Community Engagement

• Assist in marketing efforts, branding, and community outreach to promote services.

• Represent the clinic at networking events, open houses, and health fairs.

• Collaborate with physician offices and referral sources to maintain strong professional relationships.

*Compensation & Benefits*

Salary & Incentive Program

• $55-$65/hour (equivalent to $114,400 – $135,200/year based on a 40-hour workweek)

• Profit-sharing bonuses based on clinic growth and performance metrics

PTO & Continuing Education

• 4 weeks  (20 days) of PTO annually

• $2,000 Continuing Education Stipend per year for courses, certifications, or conferences

*Qualifications*

• Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in Virginia 

• Minimum 5+ years of clinical experience, with leadership or operations experience preferred

• Strong understanding of insurance billing, compliance, and regulatory standards

• Experience in multi-location management, home health, or outpatient clinic settings is a plus

• Ability to mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team

• Business acumen with a growth mindset and strategic planning abilities
