Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant
Location: Purcellville Studio and/or house calls in Loudoun County, VA
Part-time or full-time: 20-40 hours/week
Full Distance is looking for a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team.
In accordance with Full Distance philosophy, and in alignment with company culture, the Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible and accountable for the following:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) administers physical therapy to clients on an intermittent basis in their place of residence. This is performed in accordance with physician orders and plan of care. You will directly report to your Team Lead. You must be able to function independently, have flexibility for work assignments, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with clients, personnel, and support staff.
THERAPIST BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by the American Physical Therapy Association, or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, or the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association and American Physical Therapy Association.
- Currently licensed in the state(s) in which practicing. Proof of licensing required.
- Two (2) years of experience, preferred.
- Acceptance of philosophy, core values, and goals of Full Distance.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
- Keeps current with continuing education requirements for state’s licensing.
- Must understand and comply with HIPAA and other laws that protect clients and their medical information.
- Must understand and know how to implement medical environmental precautions and procedures related to this position.
- Must be able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Consults with physicians regarding change in client treatment.
- Writes client progress reports for physician review.
- Educates clients, caregivers, and family/significant others in home programs and activities of daily living as part of the plan of care. For dementia clients this is to be completed each visit.
- Attend all client care conferences as scheduled.
- Assist physician with evaluating level of client function.
- Develop the client’s plan of care (“POC”) and revise as necessary.
- Consults with other company personnel assigned to the client.
- Completes and submits initial evaluations, daily notes, progress notes/re-evaluations, holds, and discharges in accordance with company time frames and using company provided software and hardware.
OFFICE PROCEDURES
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Collaborate with a Full Distance representative to review staffing plans.
- Prepare and submit various reports for review by employer.
- Direct and supervise other staff as required.
- May be required to conduct performance evaluations of other staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work in client homes throughout Loudoun County.
- May travel by automobile to/from client homes.
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset client, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Work week hours are available Sunday through Saturday. Working hours include visits to accommodate clients and studio/space availability.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions etc. including TB and AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
- Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and participate in physical activity.
- Able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- Ability to work for extended period while standing and being involved in physical activity.
- Ability to do extensive bending, lifting, and standing on a regular basis.
CLIENT RIGHTS
- Maintain the confidentiality of all client care information including protected health information. You are mandated to report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
- Monitor all care and activities of clients to ensure that clients are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Report any complaints or grievances made by a client regarding care directly to your Team Lead
- Report all allegations of client abuse and/or misappropriation of client property directly to your Team Lead
